Which IAdea players work with Fugo

Fugo runs on IAdea XMP media players from the XMP-7000 series and up. As an official IAdea partner, Fugo supports the full range of players — but performance is only optimised for Fugo on the recommended models below.

Recommended for use with Fugo

  • XMP-8552
  • XMP-8550
  • Best experience of the IAdea range — though not recommended for new purchases

Supported but not recommended

  • XMP-7500
  • MBR-1100
  • XMP-6400
  • Usable with Fugo, but performance isn’t optimised

Minimum requirement

  • XMP-7000 series or newer
  • Android-based IAdea media player
  • Network access to reach Fugo CMS
Setup

Get an IAdea player running Fugo

Before you start, connect the player to your screen over HDMI, join it to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and update it to the latest firmware. Then install Fugo by sideloading the APK — it usually gives better results than pointing the player at the Fugo URL.

1

Sideload the Fugo APK

Download the Fugo Player APK to the IAdea player — you can use the device’s built-in Chrome browser, so no USB stick is needed. Sideloading the APK usually yields better results than setting the Fugo player URL in the player’s Content Settings, then set ai.fugo.player to launch on startup and press Play.

Pair your screen

Once Fugo is running, the player shows a unique six-digit pairing PIN on screen. Log in to Fugo CMS, click Add Screens, and enter that PIN to connect the player to your account.

Publish and manage remotely

Name your screen, build playlists, and schedule content — then monitor every IAdea player from a single cloud dashboard. Updates and content changes push over the air, so you never have to touch the hardware again.

Honest guidance

Supported today, but not our pick for new buys

IAdea makes solid professional media players, and Fugo runs on them. We just no longer recommend buying IAdea for a new deployment — outside the two recommended models, performance isn’t optimised for Fugo. Here’s the honest picture so you can decide with your eyes open.

Great if you already own one

Already have IAdea players on the wall? You can pair them with Fugo and manage them alongside the rest of your fleet from the cloud. There’s no need to rip and replace hardware that still works — connect it and keep publishing.

Two models we still recommend

The XMP-8552 and XMP-8550 are the IAdea players we recommend for use with Fugo. They give the smoothest experience of the range — though even these two we no longer recommend as brand-new purchases in 2026.

Not tuned for new purchases

Outside the recommended models, performance isn’t optimised for Fugo, and older units can behave inconsistently. For a fresh rollout, a modern Android media player or a commercial display will give you a smoother, better-supported experience than a new IAdea unit.

IAdea digital signage FAQs

Which IAdea models work with Fugo?

Fugo supports IAdea XMP media players from the XMP-7000 series and up. We recommend the XMP-8552 and XMP-8550 for use with Fugo. The XMP-7500, MBR-1100, and XMP-6400 are supported but not recommended — performance on those isn’t optimised for Fugo. See the IAdea hardware directory for the full list.

Should I buy an IAdea player for a new deployment?

Generally, no. Fugo no longer recommends buying IAdea for new purchases — even the recommended models — because performance isn’t optimised for Fugo outside a couple of units. If you’re starting fresh, a modern Android media player or a commercial display will give you a smoother, better-supported experience. IAdea remains a good option if you already own the hardware and want to keep using it.

What’s the minimum IAdea player Fugo needs?

The minimum requirement is an IAdea player from the XMP-7000 series. It should be an Android-based IAdea media player connected to a screen over HDMI, joined to your network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and running the latest available firmware so it can reach Fugo CMS reliably.

Should I sideload the APK or set the Fugo player URL?

Sideload the Fugo APK. On IAdea players, installing the APK usually yields better results than setting the Fugo player URL in the player’s Content Settings. You can download the APK using the device’s built-in Chrome browser — no USB stick needed. The IAdea complete guide walks through both options step by step.

How do I install the Fugo APK on an IAdea player?

Download the APK to the player, follow IAdea’s installation steps for third-party apps, then open the player menu, go to Advanced → Content → AppStart, and enter the package name ai.fugo.player so Fugo launches on every restart. Leave the URL field empty and press Play — the Fugo Player will start and display a pairing PIN.

What content can I show on an IAdea player with Fugo?

Anything Fugo supports: images, video, 4K and HTML5 content, live social media walls, TV dashboards like Looker, Tableau and Power BI, digital menu boards, and apps from the Fugo app store. You can design content in Fugo’s Design Studio or start from a free template.

Can I manage IAdea players alongside my other screens?

Yes. Once paired, IAdea players appear in Fugo CMS like any other screen, so you can build playlists, schedule content, and monitor them from the same cloud dashboard as the rest of your fleet — regardless of what hardware each screen runs on.
