What does Fugo run on in a Linux setup?

Fugo runs on a 64-bit x86 PC with Linux installed as the operating system. That could be a compact mini PC, an Intel NUC, or other compatible PC hardware.

The Fugo player itself is packaged for Linux and connects that device to Fugo CMS, where you manage its content, schedules, and screen settings remotely.

Which Linux distributions does Fugo support?

Ubuntu LTS is our recommended option, with support for Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04. Fugo also supports Fedora 38+ and openSUSE Leap.

Other distributions may work if they support snapd and AppArmor, although rolling releases such as Arch or Manjaro and lightweight distributions such as Alpine aren’t configurations we recommend for signage.

How do I install Fugo on Linux?

If your distribution doesn’t already include snapd, install that first. Then install the Fugo player with:

sudo snap install fugo-player

You can also install it through the Snap Store or use the .deb package.

Once the player launches, it displays a pairing PIN. Enter that PIN in Fugo CMS to add the device to your account.

Can I deploy Fugo across multiple Linux devices?

Yes. Because the Snap install can be run from the command line, it can be incorporated into tools and workflows such as Ansible, Puppet, cloud-init, or a standard system image.

Each screen still needs to be paired individually with Fugo so it receives its own screen identity and pairing PIN.

Does Fugo start automatically when the Linux device boots?

Fugo can be configured to start automatically, but the setup depends on how your Linux environment handles sessions and startup.

What content can I show on Linux?

You can publish images, video, PDFs, web pages, Fugo apps, and layouts created in Design Studio.

For business data, Fugo’s TV Dashboards tools can put reports and dashboards from services including Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Salesforce, Jira, and more on screen.

Linux also supports multi-zone layouts, touchscreen content, landscape and portrait orientations, and offline media playback.

Can I use the Fugo Linux player app on a Raspberry Pi?

No. Fugo’s Linux package is built for 64-bit x86 hardware, while Raspberry Pi uses a different processor architecture.
