Screen burn-in prevention

Screen burn-in, also known as image retention, occurs when static images are displayed for extended periods, causing certain pixels to age faster than others. This results in a ghostly imprint of the image that persists on the screen even when the content changes. The underlying mechanism involves the uneven wear of organic compounds in OLED screens or uneven deposition of phosphor compounds in CRT displays. While modern LCD and LED screens are less susceptible, they are not immune. Techniques such as pixel shifting, adjusting brightness, and using screen savers are employed to mitigate this effect by ensuring that pixels are not consistently exposed to the same intensity and color, thus promoting uniform wear.
