Starting your Fugo trial is the quickest way to see how digital signage can work for your team. But we know new users often have a few common questions — things like What can I publish? What hardware do I need? or How does pricing work?

This guide brings together quick answers to those FAQs so you can focus on testing Fugo and deciding if it’s the right fit for your project.

Haven't started your trial yet?

It's free for 14 days & no credit card is required.

Here’s what this FAQ covers:

Let's dive in!

Content

1. What kinds of content can I show?

📄 Read the full article:

2. How do I upload media?

You'll do that in your Media library.

Get there from the Content drop-down menu in the top navigation bar:

You can drag & drop media from your device or by uploading from a Google Drive or Dropbox folder.

3. Uploading media sounds tedious. What other options do I have?

You can skip manual uploads by connecting Fugo to your file storage or digital asset management (DAM) tool using one of our apps:

These integrations sync your selected files or folders directly with Fugo, so your screen content automatically updates when you make changes in those tools.

☝️ Each is linked above to a handy tutorial guide with instructions.

⚠️ Note: These apps will require your device to have a good internet connection in order to update the files on screen that you add or remove in your external tool. If you know your internet is spotty, then we'd recommend you upload your files directly into your media library instead.

4. What are apps?

Apps are feeds that come from third party tools, configured to be displayed on your TV screens with Fugo. They allow for different kinds of workflows like:

👀 You can browse all our apps frome the App Store. Get there from the Content drop-down menu in the top navigation bar:

5. Why are some apps labled "Premium" and others "Free"?

These labels indicate which Fugo plan you’ll need to access each app:

  • Free apps: Included on all plans - Essential, Core, and Enterprise

  • Premium apps: Available on Core and Enterprise plans

You can use both Free and Premium apps during your trial. To keep access to Premium apps after your trial, you’ll need to upgrade to a Core or Enterprise plan.

Note that some apps, even those labeled "Free", may require you to purchase a subscription from the 3rd party tool. Those include:

6. What are "Dashboards"? How are they different than apps?

Dashboards (sometimes called TV Dashboards) is a feature in Fugo that lets you securely display private web pages on your screens.

They’re called “dashboards” because they’re most often used to show live dashboards and reports from tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Atlassian, or Zendesk. But technically, you can display any password-protected or SSO-only URL your team uses for work.

We don’t yet have native integrations with every platform (though more are coming!), so these pages are displayed using the Dashboards feature instead.

Here’s how it works: Fugo uses your login credentials to open your chosen URL in a secure cloud environment - essentially a simulated browser session - then captures a screenshot of that page. That image is displayed on your screen and refreshed automatically at a set interval (one hour by default).

This setup allows you to show pages hosted in the cloud or restricted to your local network or on-premise server, without compromising security.

Where to find it: you can get there from the Dashboards page in the top navigation bar:

☝️ Note that the Dashboards feature must be enabled in your trial account by our team.

You can request access by:

Dashboard apps: some dashboard & reporting tools have native Fugo integrations. You do not need to use the Dashboards feature to connect them. Instead, you'll use the app:

  • Power BI

  • Grafana Cloud

  • Looker

👇 Jump down to our Dashboards section for more frequently asked questions about dashboards.

7. What if I want to display several feeds or sources of content in one layout?

That's exactly what our Design Studio is for! It's a lot like Canva or Google Slides, but allows you to work with more than just text & media in your slides.

Use to:

You can access it from the Studio tab of the Content drop-down menu in the top navigation bar:

Hardware

8. What type of hardware will I need to use Fugo?

To connect Fugo to your TV screen, you’ll need to install the Fugo player app on a compatible device. You can do that in one of two ways:

A) Smart TV / SOC (System on Chip) display

If your display runs Android or Google TV and has access to the Google Play Store, you can download the Fugo app directly - just like you would Netflix.

Many modern smart TVs from brands like Sony, Philips, Sharp, TCL, and others use Android or Google TV, which makes them compatible out of the box.

Some professional-grade displays from Samsung and LG also include dedicated operating systems built for digital signage:

  • Samsung SSSP (Smart Signage Platform)

  • LG webOS Signage

B) Media player

If your TV doesn’t have a compatible operating system, you can plug in a media player or mini PC via HDMI and install Fugo there.

A few that we recommend are:

9. Is my Samsung screen compatible with Fugo or will I need an addtional media player?

If your Samsung professional display includes the Samsung Smart Signage Platform (SSSP), it can run Fugo natively - no external media player needed.

If you have a consumer-grade Samsung TV (like one purchased from a retail store), it likely doesn’t include SSSP, so you’ll need an additional media player.

📖 Check out this article for tips on identifying whether your display is professional or consumer grade.

10. Is my LG screen compatible with Fugo or will I need an additional media player?

If your LG display runs one of the following operating systems, it’s compatible with Fugo out of the box:

  • webOS Signage 4.0

  • webOS Signage 4.1

  • webOS Signage 6.0

Displays running other LG operating systems may still work but could require a separate media player.

📖 Check out this article for tips on identifying whether your display is Fugo-compatible.

11. I see you offer Fugo players. Do I have to purchase one in order to use Fugo?

No - the Fugo player app works on a wide range of compatible devices.

That said, if you plan to display data-heavy dashboards (like Power BI or Looker visualizations), we recommend using one of our Fugo-branded players for best performance and reliability. Alternatively, a Windows, Linux, or Chrome-based mini PC with sufficient power will also perform well in this case too.

Each Fugo player model is rigorously tested and vetted by our team to ensure it runs Fugo’s apps smoothly, even under demanding workloads. They’re a solid choice if you want a plug-and-play setup you can depend on.

12. I don't know what hardware I should get. Can you make a recommendation?

Absolutely. Our team can recommend the best setup based on your content needs and environment.

Reach out to sales@fugo.ai with a quick note about what you plan to display, and we’ll help you choose the right hardware.

13. Can I use Fugo on my Amazon Firestick?

Yes, you can use Fugo on your Amazon Firestick. However, note that we no longer recommend Firesticks for new purchases.

Users have reported several issues with operating system updates interrupting or crashing the Fugo app. You can read more about our performance notes for the Firestick here.

If your budget allows, we recommend considering alternative devices for your screen/s like a Chromecast with Google TV, a Google TV Streamer, a Raspberry Pi 5, or a Fugo player.

Dashboards

14. I just signed up. Why can't I access Dashboards in my trial?

Because Dashboards connect directly to your company’s SSO and authentication systems, there are a few technical steps to configure before you can start using them.

For that reason, we enable Dashboards after a short demo call with our team.

During the call, our team will:

  • Outline what information or permissions you’ll need from your SSO provider

  • Explain how authentication and screenshot rendering work

  • Answer any security or configuration questions you may have

After that, we’ll enable the feature in your trial account so you can start testing.

You can request access by:

15. How does the Dashboards feature work?

The Dashboards feature lets you securely display private dashboards and reports (like Salesforce, HubSpot, or Tableau) on your screens - without leaving them logged in on a shared device.

Here’s what happens behind the scenes:

  1. When you click Create Dashboard, Fugo prompts you to sign in using your usual credentials - via email and password, Google SSO, Microsoft SSO, or Okta.

  2. You’ll also enter a secret key, an alphanumeric string from your SSO or authenticator app. This lets Fugo automatically handle two-factor verification on your behalf.

  3. Fugo opens your dashboard URL in a secure, isolated cloud browser, takes a screenshot, and displays that image on your TV screens.

  4. The screenshot automatically refreshes at a set interval (once per hour by default).

This process makes it possible to show live, authenticated dashboards without exposing login details or running them directly on your devices.

16. How can I trial dashboards?

Once Dashboards have been enabled for your trial (after a short setup call with our team), you can try them out right away.

Once it's enabled, go to the Dashboards page from your top navigation bar and click Create Dashboard:

Choose your platform from the available options:

If your platform isn’t listed, scroll down to start with your dashboard URL instead:

📖 You can find full instructions for your selected platform in our Dashboard collection

17. Can you help me set up my dashboard/s?

Absolutely. Our team is happy to walk you through setup or troubleshoot any issues.

Reach out to sales@fugo.ai for setup assistance or a guided demo.

18. Why do you cap my refreshes at once an hour?

Each time Fugo accesses, screenshots, and refreshes your dashboards, it uses secure cloud computing resources. This process is resource-intensive and contributes to server load, which is why it’s a premium feature and limited to one refresh per hour by default.

This balance helps us maintain security and stability for all users while keeping costs manageable.

19. Can I enabled faster refreshes for my dashboard/s?

Yes. You can host your dashboards on-premise, meaning they render from a local server or Windows machine instead of Fugo’s cloud servers.

When running on-premise, you control the refresh interval yourself - even as frequently as every 5 minutes or 1 minute - since it doesn’t rely on cloud server capacity.

This setup is available as an Enterprise feature, but we can help you test an on-premise dashboard before upgrading your plan to make sure it fits your needs.

Pricing

20. How does pricing work?

Fugo charges a license fee per screen you connect to our CMS - one screen equals one license.

This means you only pay for the screens that are actively publishing content, not for the number of users or apps in your account. You can add as many team members or playlists as you like without affecting your license cost.

You can see current pricing on our Pricing page.

Essential plan

  • $24 / month per screen (or $240 / year)

  • €21 / month per screen (or €216 / year)

  • £18 / month per screen (or £180 / year)

Core plan

  • $36 / month per screen (or $360 / year)

  • €33 / month per screen (or €336 / year)

Enterprise plan

  • $40 / month per screen (billed annually as $480)

  • €36 / month per screen (billed annually as €432)

  • £32 / month per screen (billed annually as £384)
