A few key features of running the Fugo app on macOS:

  • Fugo will auto-start upon booting up your screen.

  • The Fugo app will auto-update itself.

  • Content screen-shotting works smoothly, so you'll always have a nice playback preview of your content.

You can learn more about the minimum requirements for Apple hardware powered by macOS, as well as detailed lists of recommended, supported, and non-supported devices here.

Install Fugo on your macOS device

Coming soon - Fugo on the App store

Fugo will is expected to be available to download from the App store later in 2024. For now, you'll need to complete the installation from your device's browser.

We'll be using a MacBook Air for the purposes of this demo, but the installation process will be similar for your chosen device.

1. Turn on your device, go to the browser and open the URL for our app - https://fugo.ai/fugo.dmg

2. Save the file to install the app.

3. Drag the Fugo player app into Applications to finish installing it.

4. Once you’ve installed & launched the Fugo app, the Fugo player will start up on your screen. You’ll see a pairing code - we'll cover what to do with it in the next section.

Pair your device to Fugo CMS

💡 Note: to pair your screen, you'll need a Fugo account. If you haven't registered a Fugo account yet, you can head over to fugo.ai/app to start your 14-day free trial.

1. Once you're logged in, you can click Create > Screen on the Welcome page. Alternatively, you can navigate to the Screens page in the top navigation bar and click Create Screens.

3. Enter the PIN from the Fugo player window into the space provided.

4. To finish the pairing process, give your screen a name and add a location.

💡 We recommend you name your player something relevant such as 68 Lombard Street or Clapham Coffee Shop. For my example, I’ve named my screen “Fugo HQ.”

You can also add your screen's address if you want to be able to see it in Fugo's map viewer.

5. Your screen will now be listed on your Screens page.

Enable automatic login

Note: You’ll need to enable automatic login into macOS so that Fugo can launch after your device restarts, otherwise you'll see Mac's login screen.

You'll need to configure this manually as it’s not possible to do it automatically from the Fugo app.

You'll follow Mac's instructions here - https://support.apple.com/en-us/102316

And select your user account from the “Automatically log in as" (or "Automatic login") menu.

Grant permissions for the Fugo app

By default, macOS puts the mouse cursor at the top left corner by default. This makes the top system menu popup, ruining the full screen experience 👇

To get around this, Fugo can automatically move the mouse cursor out of sight, but you'll need to grant permission for Fugo to do it.

From the Apple menu  , choose System Settings and navigate to Privacy & Security Accessibility.

And toggle on the permission for fugo-player.

Now, you'll notice that the unsightly menu bar has been removed from the top of your screen 👇

Publish content with Fugo CMS

With your player all set up, you’re ready to give it something to play!

Fugo allows you to display several types of content:

You can use our Design Studio to create screen-ready content like digital posters & menu boards without having to leave Fugo for a 3rd party tool - learn how here.

When your content is ready to go on screen, you can use our friendly playlist builder to publish your content - learn how here.
