💡 Please note that while Fugo can be used on an Amazon Fire TV device, we no longer recommend them for new purchases. We will continue to maintain & improve our Amazon Fire support, however, we now recommend that if your budget allows, you seek an alternative device to ease your experience of running digital signage with Fugo.

You can find more information about the drawbacks of Amazon devices, along with our list of supported & unsupported devices in our Amazon Fire TV Hardware Directory here.

Set up your Amazon Fire TV device

Before you can install & pair your device to Fugo CMS, you'll need to follow a few easy steps to connect it to the internet and get it ready to run Fugo.

Follow the steps below to set up your chosen device. You can also refer to this guide from Amazon for more help setting up various devices.

How to set up your Amazon Fire TV Stick

If you've already set up your Amazon Fire TV Stick with your TV and are ready to get started with the Fugo app, you can jump ahead to these instructions.

  1. Unbox your Amazon Fire TV Stick and put the included batteries into your Fire TV Stick Remote.

  2. Now connect your Fire TV Stick to a power socket using the included adaptor, and plug it into an available HDMI input on your TV. Use the included adaptor if needed.

  3. Turn on your TV and select the input source that matches the HDMI input you plugged your Fire TV Stick into.

  4. At this point you should see your start-up screen. Your Fire TV Stick remote should automatically be paired but if not, press the Home button.

  5. Next, you will need to configure your Fire TV Stick. Select your preferred language, your Wi-Fi network, and enter your Amazon account details. Don't worry, this is the only time you have to do it.

  6. Now you'll be asked if you would like to save your Amazon password, so you can easily add other Amazon features such as Echo, we suggest selecting Yes.

How to set up your Amazon Fire TV Edition TV

If you've already set up your Amazon Fire TV and are ready to get started with the Fugo app, you can jump ahead to these instructions.

Note that while makes & models of Amazon Fire Edition TVs may differ from each other, the setup process should be fairly similar across the board.

  1. Once you power on your Fire TV Edition TV for the first time, you'll be taken through a few steps to get your TV ready. First, select your preferred language and select Continue on the next screen.

  2. Next, set up your WiFi network connection. After completing this process, your TV will automatically check for updates and may turn off and on while doing so.

  3. On the next screen you will have the option to select your experience.

  4. Choosing Basic will limit your access to only Live TV and 5 streaming apps. Amazon's App Store and Virtual Assistant "Alexa" will also be disabled. For digital signage purposes, we recommend selecting Full as this will give you access to the apps store and all the features of the Fire OS TV.

  5. Sign in to your Amazon account, or create a new one.

  6. You'll then be asked if you'd like to save your amazon password to your account so you can easily add other Amazon features like Echo. We recommend selecting Yes.

  7. In the next step, select your preference if you would like to enable parental controls or not.

  8. You may now be asked if you'd like to be presented with popular apps to download immediately, select Get Started if you want to do so, or select No, Thanks to finish the setup process.

  3. Next, connect to your wifi network. Once there is an internet connection, your Amazon tablet will automatically update to the newest version of Fire OS.

  4. Now, register your Amazon Fire tablet by signing into your Amazon account or creating a new account if you don't already have one. You will now be presented with the payment option which you can skip this step for now by selecting Cancel.

  5. On the Fire options screen, please deselect the services that you do not wish to participate or leave all as is then select Continue.

  6. Next select who will be using this tablet. We recommend you select “Not now” to skip this step.

  7. You can also skip social network connections on the next screen if you do not want to join right now.

  8. Next You may be presented with Amazon subscription services, we recommend selecting "No, thanks" on all of the options for the time being.

  9. You will then have the option to enable Alexa, Amazon's virtual assistant. We recommend that if this tablet is going to be used solely for digital signage that Amazon Alexa is disabled.

Install the Fugo player app onto your device

There are three ways you can install Fugo on your Amazon Fire TV device/s.

1. From the Amazon Appstore on your device

1.1 Once your device is connected to the internet, you’ll need to install the Fugo player app onto it.

Navigate to the Amazon Appstore, search for "Fugo Digital Signage Player" and install our app.

If you’re using an Amazon Fire tablet, you can find our app here directly.

1.2 Launching the app will automatically generate a pairing PIN. Jump here to find out what to do with this code.

2. Deliver the Fugo app to your devices from your Amazon account

Alternatively, you can deliver the Fugo app onto your Fire TV devices directly from your Amazon account. This is a neat way of installing the app on multiple devices at the same time. You can do it in three steps:

2.1 Log into your Amazon account at amazon.com

2.3 Find the box in the right-hand side where it says “Deliver to” and choose your connected device you want the app to be installed on. If you choose Cloud Only, the app will automatically be installed on new devices

3. Side load the Fugo app APK

Finally, there is a 3rd way you can install fugo on your device - you can sideload the Fugo app apk. This can be useful if for some reason the Fugo app is not available in your appstore region or you want to run an old version of the app.

Pair your device to Fugo

  1. If you haven't already registered on Fugo CMS, go to https://fugo.ai/app to start your 14-day free trial.

  1. After successfully logging in, you can click Add Screens on the welcome page. Alternatively, you can navigate to the Screens page in the top navigation bar and click Create Screen.

  2. Enter the PIN from the Fugo player window into the space provided.

  3. To finish the pairing process, give your screen a name and add a location.

We recommend you name your player something relevant such as 68 Lombard Street or Clapham Coffee Shop. For my example, I’ve named my screen “Fugo HQ.” The address should be your screen’s location.

  4. Your screen will now be listed on your Screens page.

Congratulations, you’ve added your screen! Here, have this cake 🍰 to celebrate!

Now you’re ready to start publishing content. We’ll cover that in the next section.

3. Publish content with Fugo CMS

With your player all set up, you’re ready to give it something to play!

Fugo allows you to display several types of content:

You can use our Design Studio to create screen-ready content like digital posters & menu boards without having to leave Fugo for a 3rd party tool - learn how here.

When your content is ready to go on screen, you can use our friendly playlist builder to publish your content - learn how here.
