Using a digital signage software like Fugo to manage and schedule content for your screens provides a lot of advantages compared to traditional methods like using USB drives or computer screen mirroring.

With Fugo, you can easily create playlists of content that will play on a recurring schedule you define - daily, weekly, or for specific times and days.

This article will walk through how to create recurring playlists in Fugo and some of the key reasons scheduling content is so useful.

Why Schedule Playlists?

Scheduling your digital signage content in Fugo has many benefits:

  • Display time-specific information like daily menus or weekly event reminders

  • Create consistent messaging to strengthen your brand

  • Once published, easily update content without having to republish

  • Much simpler than using USB sticks or a mirrored laptop screen

With the ability to schedule full playlists in Fugo, you can plan out your content in advance and ensure your screens always have helpful, relevant information for your audience.

What Information Should You Display on a Scheduled Playlist?

The content you display on a recurring scheduled playlist will depend on your specific audience and use case. But here are a few examples of the kind of helpful information that makes sense to set on a schedule in different environments:

Retail Venues:

  • Daily sales and promotions to advertise special offers

  • Store hours and holiday closures to inform customers

  • New product alerts to showcase latest inventors

Hospitality Venues:

  • Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus for restaurants

  • Promote daily happy hour specials and events

  • Welcome messaging for conference/event guests

Healthcare Clinics:

  • Department wait times to keep patients updated on delays

  • Daily health tips to educate and engage visitors

  • Urgent announcements like weather closures for safety

Schools & Universities:

  • Exam schedules and registration deadlines for students

  • Class changes or room assignments to notify of updates

  • Event calendars to promote on-campus activities

Offices:

  • Employee recognition to motivate and engage staff

  • Policy/process changes to distribute need-to-know updates

  • Performance dashboards to display real-time metrics

Warehouse Floors:

  • Daily task lists to direct workers on priorities

  • Safety tips and training deadlines to reinforce compliance

  • Production metrics to showcase operational performance

Think about what information would be most useful, actionable, or engaging to display on screens in your specific environment. This will help you identify the kinds of content that are worth scheduling on a recurring basis.

Now, let's dive into how to schedule your recurring playlist!

Creating a Playlist

1. Start by logging into your Fugo account and navigating to the Playlists page. Click Create Playlist to begin.

2. First, give your playlist a descriptive name like ‘Daily Office Updates’ orWeekly Announcements'.

3. Next, click Select Screen to choose which screen/s you want to publish this playlist to.

4. Click Choose Content to add your desired media, apps, custom layouts, or dashboards to the playlist and click Add Item.

Now it’s time to schedule your playlist.

2. Scheduling a Playlist

At this point we can use the Scheduler to choose the timing and recurrence for when we want this playlist to run.

1. If you already know if & when you want this playlist to expire, you can untick the No End Date option to set your expiration date.

You will see an End Date selector appear, and you can select the date that you want this content to start & stop playing on. This will tell Fugo when to remove this playlist from your content queue.

If you have a playlist that needs to display indefinitely, then simply leave the No End Date box ticked, and it will continue to display until you change its schedule, or remove it once you no longer need it.

2. If you have certain days of the week that you would like to display your playlist, then you need to tick the Week Schedule box to open it.

3. From here, you can click the days/times to toggle them on/off, giving you a perfectly sculpted schedule that displays exactly what you want, when you want it.

You can do this a few ways:

If you want to select an entire day of the week for the whole day, simply click on the name of that day above the calendar.

This will display a message letting you know that the schedule is active for the entire day.

If you change your mind and wish to remove that day, simply click on the x button

You will be asked to confirm if that schedule can be removed, and once confirmed it will be gone from your calendar view.

If you have a more specific time slot for this playlist, simply drag to quickly select multiple days or times.

Click a time block to edit down to the minute. In this case, let’s change the times on Tuesday by clicking on the Tuesday selection. We will be greeted with this selection window:

We'll change it to 03:30 PM for this example.

And now our calendar view looks like this:

Once you have set your desired schedule, then click Publish.

Now your content will be added to your queue & automatically play at the scheduled times!
