Table of contents
Managing content across multiple digital signage screens is a breeze with a powerful content management system (CMS) like Fugo. But what happens when you need to interrupt your scheduled programming and display urgent, timely content?
Fugo gives you the ability to override your existing playlists and instantly take control of your screens through a couple of key features:
Manual Triggers
Instant screen casting (AKA screen mirroring)
These come in handy for those situations when you need to get content on your screen *now* without going through a complicated song and dance:
Pushing urgent company announcements like policy changes or office closures
Displaying last-minute updates to event schedules or room changes
Switching screens into presentation mode for meetings or town halls
Celebrating employee wins like birthdays, work anniversaries, or awards
Motivating sales teams by showcasing closed deals and new customers in real time
Promoting time-sensitive information like same-day promotions or flash sales
Broadcasting internal emergencies or weather alerts to employees
Showcasing employee generated content like social media posts
Displaying personalized messages for employees, guests, or visitors
Let's dive in!
Option 1: Create a manual trigger
To override the content currently displayed on your screen(s), you can use Manual Triggers. These allow you to interrupt your scheduled content and display different media instantly.
☝️ Note: Manual triggers have replaced Priority Takeover playlists.
If you were previously using priority takeover playlists, you’ll now use manual triggers instead. They work in much the same way and are just as straightforward to set up.
What are Manual Triggers?
Manual Triggers are events that you can configure to immediately start playing a specific piece of content. You can think of them as an instant switch for controlling your displays.
For example, you could set a Manual Trigger to show an important announcement, promotional content, or an emergency message whenever needed. These triggers are easy to use and can be set up in just a few clicks.
Manual trigger setup
Add your source
If you want to be able to quickly trigger a playlist that overtakes your current content, you can do so with a manual trigger.
1. Log into your Fugo account.
2. Navigate to the Triggers page from the top navigation bar and click either of the Create Trigger buttons.
3. This will open up the Trigger builder:
4. Give your trigger a name.
I'll call mine "Welcome client to office" since I'm going to trigger this content when my client enters my office.
5. Click Add source.
6. Choose the Manual trigger option.
7. Your manual trigger will now be listed as a pane under your Trigger Source.
Select or create your display content
Now that your trigger source is in place, you'll need to choose or create some content to fire when you manually activate your trigger.
1. On the Content card, click Select Content.
2. This will open the content picker where you can choose between:
Apps
Display a feed from one of Fugo's third party app integrations.
Media
Display an image, video, audio, or presentation file you've uploaded to your media library.
Studio Content
Display a slide or slideshow you've created in the Design Studio.
Dashboards
Display a dashboard you've connected and saved to your Dashboard library via the TV Dashboards feature.
For my content, I'm going to choose a slide I created in the Design Studio for welcoming clients into my office:
Psst - here's what it looks like inside the Design Studio:
3. When you've chosen your content, it will be listed as a pane in your content card.
☝️ Note on duration
The duration of your content will be 30 seconds by default for images.
For videos, the duration will be the full length of the selected video.
For Design Studio content, the duration will be the duration you assigned to your slide/s.
Add your screen/s
Finally, now that you've set you've set your trigger and display content, you need to tell Fugo which screens it should display on!
1. Click Select Screens.
2. This will open a pop up window for you to either choose from your already-paired screens or pair a new screen.
If you chose to pair a new screen for this content to play on, our pairing window will open:
You can check out our hardware guide collection to find the right pairing instructions for your device (E.g. Android-based media player, smart TV, mini pc, etc)
3. When you've assigned your screen/s - that's it! Click Create Trigger to set it live.
4. Your new trigger will now be listed on your Triggers page.
When you're ready to fire off this content, you can click either:
Play once: Play this content just one time for the duration you assigned it while building your trigger.
Loop: Play this content on a loop until you manually stop it with the Stop button.
💪 For power users : You can even automate publishing your playlists with triggers from external tools. Either by using our REST API or setting up triggers with third party tools & Fugo - for instant alerts and notifications on screen.

Option 2: Cast your computer screen to a TV using Fugo
Ever need to quickly share your laptop screen during a meeting or presentation? Fugo makes it easy to wirelessly cast your browser tab, window, or screen to a TV with just a few clicks.
What is Cast to Screen?
Fugo’s Cast to Screen feature allows you to mirror your Windows or Mac laptop, desktop, or tablet to a TV screen. It works by streaming your computer screen over the internet to displays connected to Fugo.
This allows you to easily share presentations, video conferences, virtual whiteboards, or collaborate on documents by casting your screen. No cables, adapters, or complex setup required.
How to cast your screen from Fugo
1. First, make sure your screen is paired to the Fugo platform.
See our Hardware Help Center collection for instructions on pairing your selected hardware to Fugo.
2. In your account, navigate to your Screens page and click Cast to screens.
3. Choose which screen/s you want to cast to (you can cast to more than one at a time).
4. A pop up will appear allowing you to choose what to cast - your entire screen, a specific app window, or browser tab. Select your option then click Share.
5. Your selection will now be cast on your TV to share your presentation, video call, or collaborate with your team.
6. When you’re done, simply click “Stop Sharing” and your Fugo playlist content will resume playing on the TV.
Display a casting link for guests & non-Fugo users
If your screens are in shared space such as a meeting room, huddle space, or conference area - you may want to display a casting link on that screen so that any person on site can quickly cast (AKA mirror) to that screen without having to log into Fugo.
You'll enable it from your screen's Casting tab:
