To make good decisions about the future of your business, you and your team need to be informed. There are a lot of solutions out there to help you vizualize your intelligence through reports, graphs, and charts - but one of the most powerful and popular is Microsoft Power BI.

It’s easy to use, and you can generate comprehensive reports with up-to-the-minute analytics about your business — empowering the key players in your team to make informed choices about the future of your organization.

Easily display your reports with the Fugo Power BI Dashboards app

We’ve previously released a guide on how to use Microsoft Power BI with the Fugo TV Dashboards feature (which you can check out here). However, since then we’ve been hard at work on a purpose-built PowerBI app, to give you a deeper integration with your Power BI analytics. The app allows you to sign in directly with your Power BI account, and then pick and choose to display a Report or Dashboard straight from Power BI. You can choose the way the Report or Dashboard displays, and even decide whether to animate it scrolling so that you can fit more data onto your digital signage — Super handy stuff!

This is a little different from displaying your Power BI Dashboards and Reports via the TV Dashboards feature, which is really helpful in getting dashboards to display on your signage but doesn’t integrate directly with Power BI the way this app does.

Connect your screen to a Fugo account

If you want to be able to display your Power BI report or dashboard in screen, you'll need to connect a device to Fugo.

You can use Fugo on a wide variety of devices including smart TVs, professional SoC displays, and external media players.

1. Log into your Fugo Account. If you don’t have an account yet, you can start your 14-day free trial here.

2. Make sure your screen(s) are connected to Fugo CMS. If you haven’t connected your screen(s) yet, you can find the instructions for your preferred device in our hardware collection.

How to set up the Fugo Power BI Dashboards app

We’ve built this app to be as easy to use as possible — you can get the app up and running in just a few clicks, and have a Report or Dashboard showing on your screens in moments! Take a look:

Adding the Power BI Dashboards App

1. Head over to Fugo and open up either the Playlist editor or the Design Studio. For this example, I’ll assume we don’t want to show anything else on screen alongside our Power BI Dashboard, so I’ll use the Playlist editor. Click “Create” at the top of your screen, and then select “Playlist” to open the editor.

2. From within the Playlist editor, head over to the “Select Content” popup menu.

3. Select the PowerBI app and click “Add 1 Item”.

4. Next, you’ll need to configure the app to work with your Power BI app. To get started, click the configure icon.

Configuring the PowerBI Dashboards App

1. Click authorize in the configuration window to sign in to your Power BI account. A popup window will open asking you to sign in once you click this.

2. After entering your account details and signing in, the app will fetch your Reports and Dashboards, ready to display them on your digital signage. Once the app is done fetching your data, you can update the settings using the dropdowns on the right.

3. If you want to enable automatic scrolling (so you can fit your entire Report or Dashboard on-screen if it’s a longer one), you can do that from the “Scrolling” menu.

And that’s really it! From here, all you need to do is click “Save Changes”, and you’ll be returned to the Playlist editor.

From here, you can select a Screen to display this playlist on, and set a schedule to run this playlist on - but if you want to know more about Playlists, you can check out our guide here.

Enable your users' ability to request Admin Consent
