What Triggers do
Triggers let Fugo screens react automatically when specific conditions are met. A trigger can fire from live events in connected tools (e.g., HubSpot), a one-click action in Fugo, a time rule, a QR scan, or calls from your systems via API/MCP. When a trigger fires, the content shows for a set duration, then your screen returns to its regular playlist.
This turns screens into a shared surface for celebrating wins, tracking momentum, and surfacing updates that might otherwise get buried in threads or dashboards.
Unlike playlists, triggers are not scheduled. They are fired by live events in a connected platform and appear on screen for a set duration before returning to your regular content.
Typical use cases include:
Celebrate a win the moment a deal is marked “Closed Won” (service trigger — available now with HubSpot).
Fire a quick announcement from the CMS for an all-hands or on-the-spot update (manual trigger - available now).
Post a daily stand-up slide at 10:00 (timed trigger - coming soon).
Show a promo or route people when a QR code on screen is scanned (QR code trigger - coming soon).
Display a custom alert pushed from your internal tools (API/MCP trigger - coming soon).
What connectors does Fugo support?
When you create a trigger, you’ll see several connector types. Some are available now; others are visible in the modal as coming soon.
Manual Triggers (available now) - Fire playlists on demand by clicking a button in the CMS.
Service Triggers - Fire playlists from events in third-party services
HubSpot – available now
Salesforce – coming soon
Timed triggers (coming soon) - Fire playlists at a specific time and day
MCP Triggers (coming soon) - Fire playlists from services connected to Fugo via MCP
API Triggers (coming soon) - Fire playlists from services your team connects to Fugo via our API
QR Code Triggers (coming soon) - Fire playlists when a viewer scans a QR code on your screen

What you'll need
To use Triggers, you’ll need:
An active Fugo account with at least one connected screen. You can sign up for a 14 day free trial here.
An account with the tool you want to connect (currently HubSpot, with admin-level access.)
Permission to approve any scopes or access requests made during the connection process.
A connected screen (compatible smart TV, media player, tablet or Fugo's browser player).
Once connected, you’ll be able to:
Select the events you want to use as triggers (e.g., a deal marked “Closed Won”)
Refine the rules for when a trigger fires
Configure the content that appears on screen when a trigger is met (slides, videos, GIFs, or - coming soon - AI-generated slides)
Let's dive into setting it up!
Manual Trigger setup
Add your source
If you want to be able to quickly trigger a playlist that overtakes your current content, you can do so with a manual trigger.
1. Log into your Fugo account.
2. Navigate to the Triggers page from the top navigation bar and click either of the Create Trigger buttons.
3. This will open up the Trigger builder:
4. Give your trigger a name.
I'll call mine "Welcome client to office" since I'm going to trigger this content when my client enters my office.
5. Click Add source.
6. Choose the Manual trigger option.
7. Your manual trigger will now be listed as a pane under your Trigger Source.
Select or create your display content
Now that your trigger source is in place, you'll need to choose or create some content to fire when you manually activate your trigger.
1. On the Content card, click Select Content.
2. This will open the content picker where you can choose between:
Apps
Display a feed from one of Fugo's third party app integrations.
Media
Display an image, video, audio, or presentation file you've uploaded to your media library.
Studio Content
Display a slide or slideshow you've created in the Design Studio.
Dashboards
Display a dashboard you've connected and saved to your Dashboard library via the TV Dashboards feature.
For my content, I'm going to choose a slide I created in the Design Studio for welcoming clients into my office:
Psst - here's what it looks like inside the Design Studio:
3. When you've chosen your content, it will be listed as a pane in your content card.
☝️ Note on duration
The duration of your content will be 30 seconds by default for images.
For videos, the duration will be the full length of the selected video.
For Design Studio content, the duration will be the duration you assigned to your slide/s.
Add your screen/s
Finally, now that you've set you've set your trigger and display content, you need to tell Fugo which screens it should display on!
1. Click Select Screens.
2. This will open a pop up window for you to either choose from your already-paired screens or pair a new screen.
If you chose to pair a new screen for this content to play on, our pairing window will open:
You can check out our hardware guide collection to find the right pairing instructions for your device (E.g. Android-based media player, smart TV, mini pc, etc)
3. When you've assigned your screen/s - that's it! Click Create Trigger to set it live.
4. Your new trigger will now be listed on your Triggers page.
When you're ready to fire off this content, you can click either:
Play once: Play this content just one time for the duration you assigned it while building your trigger.
Loop: Play this content on a loop until you manually stop it with the Stop button.
Service Trigger setup
Add your source
The first thing you'll need to do is connect your source (e.g. HubSpot) at the account level, so that Fugo can access your data.
1. Log into your Fugo account.
2. From the green account icon in the top right corner, choose Account.
3. Navigate to the Connections tab in the left-hand panel.
You'll see all available connection sources under Add new connections.
ℹ️ At the time this guide is being created, HubSpot is the only available connection, so we will proceed with connecting and configuring a HubSpot trigger.
4. Click Add. This will open a pop window to authenticate with your account.
Choose the account you want to connect and click Choose Account.
5. You'll be guided through the consent window to connect your app.
You can close the window once you're done.
Once connected, your source will be available for use in Triggers.
Choose your trigger
1. Navigate to the Triggers page from the top navigation bar and click either of the Create Trigger buttons.
2. This will open up the Trigger builder:
💡 Note: The Trigger builder will feel similar to the Playlist builder but does not provide the same scheduling functionality.
To learn more about how reoccurring playlists & scheduling work, check out our Playlist Collection.
3. Give your trigger automation a name.
I'll call mine "Deal Opened Over $10K" since I want to shout out every new deal created by my sales team over $10,000.
4. Click Add source.
5. If you've already connected your source, you'll see it listed under Connected.
If you haven't connected your source, you can do so now. Note that you'll be redirected to the Connections page of your account where you'll need to connect your source (steps 3-5 of the previous section.)
6. Now you'll need to choose your trigger type that Fugo is going to monitor for:
I'll choose Deals since I want my trigger automation to fire based on Deal activity (a new deal being created):
7. Choose what specific event you want to act as the trigger that sets off the automation.
I'll choose Deal created.
👀 Are we missing an event type that would be helpful for your team?
Let us know at support@fugo.ai - we're always looking for feedback on how to make our integrations deeper & more useful for you!
8. At this stage, you can change your trigger name to make it more specific. When you're done, click Save Trigger.
9. Your trigger will now be listed as a tile on the Trigger Source card.
If you want to reconfigure the trigger, click the cog icon to the right of your trigger's tile:
We'll cover how to add filters to your trigger in the next section. You can also jump ahead to this section to learn how to assign content to your trigger automation.
Add your filter/s (optional)
Once you've set up your trigger event, you'll have the option to add filters to it. That is, rules or conditions that must be met in order for this trigger to be fired.
These help you target your trigger events to be super-relevant.
The filter conditions draw upon the available objects & properties of your chosen source (e.g. Deal or Contact properties from your HubSpot CRM).
1. Choose the filter icon on your trigger tile.
2. Click Add filter in the pop up window.
3. Open the drop down menu under Property to load the available properties.
Use the search bar to more quickly find the property you want.
For my example, I'll choose Amount:
4. Choose the Condition drop down to set the condition (or rule) your property must meet.
For my example, I'll choose is greater than or equal to so that I can follow it up with the right amount value:
5. Finally, set the Value for your filter.
The way you input the value will depend on the property type:
Number - Set a numerical value (E.g. "3000")
Enumeration - Select from a list of predefined options
String - Type in text
Date - Choose a date from the calendar
Datetime - Chose a calendar date and time
For this example, I’ve set the property to Amount, the condition to is greater than or equal to, and the value to 10000. Now my trigger will only fire for new deals worth at least $10,000.
💡 You can add more than one filter to your trigger!
For my example, along with the Amount ≥ $10,000 filter, I could add a Deal Owner filter so the trigger only fires when a specific rep (e.g., Jenny S) opens a high-value deal.
And if I'd like each rep to have their own personalized alert, I can create separate triggers for each team member - each with its own custom slide or message.
6. Click Save Filter when you're done.
7. You'll now see your filter on the trigger tile.
With your trigger set up, you're ready to assign it some content. We'll cover that in the next section 👇
Select or create your display content
Now that you've told Fugo what trigger event you want it to monitor for, you need to tell it what content to show when the trigger fires.
You'll do that in the Content card:
You have two options:
Option 1 - Select Content
This will open the content picker where you can choose between:
Apps
Display a feed from one of Fugo's third party app integrations.
Media
Display an image, video, audio, or presentation file you've uploaded to your media library.
Studio Content
Display a slide or slideshow you've created in the Design Studio.
Dashboards
Display a dashboard you've connected and saved to your Dashboard library via the TV Dashboards feature.
For my example, let's say I've created a custom slide that I want to show on screen each time my trigger fires (when new deal over $10,000 is created).
I'd go to the Studio Content tab of the content picker and find my slide:
Option 2 - Message
This will open a pop up window where you can create a dynamic message that will display when your trigger fires.
Enter your message into the text editor:
To personalize it, click Add Property and insert a placeholder that will automatically pull in values from your source.
In my example message, I've chosen Deal Owner property and slotted into my message to be filled with the appropriate deal owner associated with the deal:
You can change the text color of the message and the background color:
You can also change the font:
And finally, add a Duration - that is, how long this message stays on screen:
Click Confirm when you're done.
Your message will now be listed on your Content card. You can edit it any time by clicking the cog icon.
Fugo will monitor your system for the trigger event you specified and play your assigned content when the conditions are met so keep your eyes peeled!
🖐️ Note: We recommend you test your trigger by creating the conditions in your system.
For example, because I've specified that I want Fugo to show my message slide whenever a new deal over $10K get's created in my HubSpot account, I'll head over to HubSpot and create a new deal over $10K so that I can check that my trigger automation is working.
